German Red Cross launches blood donation campaigns

The German Red Cross (DRK) is conducting several blood donation initiatives across Germany to meet the national daily requirement of approximately 15,000 units.

In Baden-Württemberg and Hessen, the DRK-Blutspendedienst has launched the ‘Du+1’ campaign running from September 28 to November 27. This initiative encourages first-time donors to bring a companion; participants who bring someone new to blood donation or donate together for the first time can receive limited-edition Happy Socks. The campaign is active at mobile donation sites and institutes in Mannheim, Ulm, Frankfurt, and Kassel.

Additionally, the DRK local chapter in Egestorf has scheduled a donation event for October 28, 2026. Due to construction at the Evendorfer Schützenhaus, the event will take place at the Evangelisches Gemeindehaus St. Stephanus. The DRK emphasizes that healthy individuals aged 18 and older are eligible to donate, with no upper age limit.
