German Red Cross launches membership drive and honors long-term staff

The German Red Cross (BRK) is conducting several regional initiatives in Germany. In the Nürnberger Land region, the organization has launched a summer membership campaign. Student teams are visiting households to promote the benefits of supporting the BRK. According to district manager Markus Deyhle, these contributions are essential for funding volunteer work in areas such as water rescue, mountain rescue, youth programs, and social services. The funds are intended to support long-term projects, including the training of over 1,500 active volunteers and the procurement of equipment like vehicles and boats to improve disaster protection.

In the Ostallgäu district, the BRK held a ceremony in Marktoberdorf to honor 22 long-term employees for their service. These individuals collectively represent 400 years of work within the organization. District manager Thomas Hofmann recognized their commitment across various sectors, including nursing, rescue services, administration, and housekeeping, noting their ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
