German Red Cross provides emergency and digital support services
The German Red Cross (DRK) is providing various forms of community support through specialized services in Germany. In Celle, the DRK-Hausnotruf team manages emergency call services for approximately 1,400 participants in the Celle district. The operation involves a team of 15 employees who handle administrative tasks, technical setup, and home consultations to ensure assistance is available when the emergency button is pressed.
In Hamburg-Eimsbüttel, the DRK operates a free Digital-Café. Held biweekly, this initiative provides citizens with practical assistance using smartphones, tablets, and computers. The service is led by volunteers and aims to offer low-threshold support for navigating modern communication technology.
