German regional business surveys show varying location satisfaction

Recent surveys by regional chambers of commerce in Germany reveal varying levels of satisfaction regarding local business environments. In the Trier region, an online survey conducted by IHK Trier and HWK Trier shows a decline in sentiment. Companies gave the location an average grade of 2.6, down from 2.4 five years ago. While 68 percent of surveyed entrepreneurs would recommend the location to others, there is noted dissatisfaction regarding the speed and transparency of approval processes, municipal taxes, and the availability of skilled leadership and specialists.

In the Mainfranken region, a report by IHK Würzburg-Schweinfurt based on 2,500 member companies assigned the location a grade of 2.7. Despite recent economic crises, energy price fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions, nearly three-quarters of businesses stated they would choose the region again. The study identified strengths in transport, logistics, broadband infrastructure, and mobile connectivity. Additionally, the region's quality of life is cited as a competitive advantage in the ongoing competition for skilled workers.
