German regional hiking events highlight local history and archaeology

Local communities in Germany are hosting historical and cultural hiking events. In Dörentrup, Lippe Tourismus & Marketing (LTM) is organizing guided walks along the new 18-kilometer ‘Archaeological Time Travel’ path. Led by certified guide Siegfried Görke, the route explores 4,000 years of history, including Sternberg Castle, burial mounds, and the Piepenkopf excavation site, a pre-Christian fortification.

In Gründau, the Landfrauen Gründau organized a hike through Niedergründau and Rothenbergen. The event combined local history with literary elements, featuring poetic readings by writer Peter Völker. The route highlighted regional landmarks such as the Bergkirche, a station on the Way of St. James, and historical sites related to the area's trading heritage.
