German regional initiatives launch new vocational orientation programs
Various regional initiatives in Germany are implementing new methods to assist youth with vocational orientation and career planning.
In the Euskirchen district, a new edition of the 'Plan BO' career orientation booklet has been released. Designed primarily for students from grade 8 and up, the guide aims to help young people navigate over 320 training occupations and 20,000 degree programs. The district has produced 1,500 copies for distribution across 16 different types of schools for the 2026/27 school year. The booklet includes interactive elements such as personality checks, surveys, and reflection questions to encourage active engagement with career prospects.
In Lübeck, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) is experimenting with experiential formats, such as a 'Beach Tour' at the Lübeck Bay. By collaborating with local police and educational institutions, the IHK seeks to reach young people in informal settings. This approach integrates information regarding apprenticeships, dual study programs, and university studies to provide a comprehensive overview of different educational paths.
