County leaders in North Rhine‑Westphalia urged the federal and state governments to create conditions for a Covid‑19 vaccination offensive announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, aiming for 30 million first, second and third doses by Christmas. They called for full refinancing of municipal vaccine programmes, expanded mobile sites and the involvement of additional medical professions, stating “Die Impfquote muss steigen und die Auffrischimpfungen müssen massiv beschleunigt werden.”

In the town of Kaarst, the local physicians' association reported that current primary‑care coverage stands at about 102 percent of the target, but warned that an ageing doctor workforce and changing employment preferences could jeopardise this level. The spokesperson noted “Die hausärztliche Versorgung in Kaarst liegt mit 102 Prozent über dem Durchschnitt,” while noting recent funding to support the local health system and the need to address future staffing gaps.
