German road accidents cause multiple deaths and serious injuries

A severe traffic collision in the Bergisch Gladbach district of Nordrhein‑Westfalen left a 58‑year‑old driver critically injured. The crash involved three cars—a Toyota and two VWs—on Kürtener Straße, prompting a helicopter rescue, fire‑brigade extraction and a three‑hour road closure.

In a separate incident on Austria’s A1 near Amstetten, a vehicle left the highway and was pierced by a guardrail, killing two German men on impact. An 82‑year‑old German woman who was a rear‑seat passenger later died of her injuries in Linz hospital, bringing the total fatalities to three members of a family from Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein‑Westfalen. Police are investigating the cause of both accidents.
