German Schlager music sees new tour and cultural analysis

The German Schlager music scene is seeing significant activity through upcoming tours and cultural explorations. The “Schlager Total – Die große deutsche Hitparade” concert tour is scheduled to begin in February 2027, featuring several stops in East Germany.

The tour lineup includes performers such as Bata Illic, Gaby Baginsky, and the duo Judith & Mel. The production aims to bridge generations by including younger artists like Anni Perka alongside Ilka Wolf, who is making a comeback after more than ten years.

In a separate cultural look at the genre, the ZDF program “Terra Xplore” explores the psychological appeal of Schlager music. Hosted by psychologist and moderator Leon Windscheid, the episode features insights from music industry figures and stars like Roland Kaiser and Isi Glück to examine why the genre maintains such massive popularity and commercial success.
