German school festivals draw thousands and raise funds for charitable projects

On 19 June, the 27th Hoffest at Gymnasium Oberursel in Oberursel, Germany, attracted about 6,000 € in donations despite high temperatures. The event involved students, parents, teachers and local volunteers, with food and game stalls representing countries such as France, Italy, Australia and South Korea. Proceeds support partner schools in Colombia and the Windrose association.

Later in June, the Friends and Alumni of the Bergische Universität (FABU) held a summer festival on the Freudenberg campus in Wuppertal. The gathering featured the re‑establishment of a university sports section, a change of board members and showcases of university projects, including the Green Lion Racing Team’s electric Formula Student car. The festival reinforced community ties and university fundraising.

Both festivals highlighted active community participation, cultural displays and charitable fundraising within German educational institutions.
