German School Mountain‑Bike Alps Crossings Showcase Student Endurance

Students from two German gymnasiums completed multi‑day mountain‑bike expeditions that traversed the Alps. The Sonthofer Gymnasium organized a 390‑km ride from Füssen through Imst, Nauders, Naturns and St. Michael an der Etsch, finishing at Torbole on Lake Garda. Over five days the team climbed 4,400 m, faced steep ascents, heat and technical issues, and relied on extensive preparation, sponsor support and a dedicated staff team.

Gymnasium Zwiesel’s P‑Seminar sport group set out from Mayrhofen in the Zillertal, tackling a 2,000‑m climb over the Hundskehljoch and subsequent stages through the Dolomites, including the Armentarawiesen, Pralongahochebene and the panoramic Porta Vescovo. The five‑day trek ended at Vigo in the Fassatal. Both trips emphasized teamwork, physical endurance and the educational value of long‑distance cycling in alpine terrain.
