German school projects focus on expansion in Datteln and energy‑saving design in Seeheim‑Jugenheim
The Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) have submitted a joint proposal to launch a school‑building offensive in Datteln. The plan calls for extending the Comenius‑Gymnasium and carrying out a core renovation of existing facilities, with a target completion date of 2036.
In the neighbouring district of Darmstadt‑Dieburg, a new four‑section primary school was completed in Seeheim‑Jugenheim. Built in wood‑modular construction to passive‑house standards, the school houses 400 pupils and features an automated exterior sun‑shading system from Warema. The system divides daylight and shading functions, is controlled by a KNX‑based automation linked to weather data, and aims to lower energy use and CO₂ emissions while improving indoor comfort.
