German schools begin 2026/2027 academic year

As the 2026/2027 school year begins in Germany, educational institutions and political groups are highlighting new developments in the sector. At the Clemens-Brentano-Europaschule, the new term sees a significant influx of students, including 163 new fifth-graders and a record-high eleventh grade. The school has also undergone substantial staffing changes, welcoming several new permanent teachers and various temporary staff members.

In Ludwigshafen, the CDU city council faction has expressed support for the initiatives of the Ministry of Education under Dr. Ute Eiling-Hütig. Key praised measures include the expansion of the ‘First Class’ support program, which aims to improve the transition from daycare to primary school by fostering language, mathematical, and social skills. Additionally, the faction welcomed the implementation of statewide regulations regarding the use of private mobile phones in schools to provide legal clarity for educators.
