German schools host environmental and sustainability projects

Students at German secondary schools have participated in various environmental and sustainability-focused educational programs.

At Herder-Gymnasium, eighth-grade classes engaged in the ‘Natürlich Erleben’ (Naturally Experience) project days. These activities focused on teamwork, outdoor movement, and environmental responsibility, allowing students to connect with nature through group challenges and shared experiences.

At Henfling-Gymnasium Meiningen, 11th-grade students and teachers held sustainability theme days. Projects included repairing items in a ‘repair café,’ upcycling clothing to combat fast fashion, and conducting environmental research. Students investigating the Werra river reported high levels of pollution, while others collected significant amounts of waste, such as tires and bumpers, from nearby forests. The program also addressed social sustainability by teaching students methods for managing school stress and relaxation.
