German schools mark new academic year with community events

In Bissendorf, Germany, new fifth-grade students at Campus W were welcomed with an ecumenical service at St. Michaelis Church. Under the theme ‘Be brave and strong’, the event aimed to support students transitioning from primary school to secondary education. The service was organized by students from Gymnasium Mellendorf and Margot Friedländer Gesamtschule.

In Stavenhagen, the ‘Wortbox’ participation project is moving to the Reuterstadt school campus for the start of the school year. The project invites students, teachers, and parents to submit thoughts, wishes, and observations about life in the town. These contributions, which can be submitted anonymously, will eventually be used to create an artistic ‘word film’.
