German schools receive funding for classroom modernizations and expansions

Educational facilities in Germany are undergoing significant upgrades to address capacity and modernization needs. At Sonnenhofschule in Pforzheim, three classrooms and a differentiation room have been renovated using approximately 160,000 euros from the ‘Startchancen-Programm’. The upgrades include modular furniture, acoustic ceilings, new flooring, and energy-efficient LED lighting to support both cooperative learning and individual student support.

In Sprendlingen, the Offenbach district is planning an 8.4 million euro expansion for the Heinrich-Heine-Schule. The project aims to construct a new timber-system building featuring ten additional classrooms to alleviate severe overcrowding. Currently, several classes are forced to use containers or share rooms due to the school's growth from 823 students in 2007 to nearly 1,200 students today. If approved, construction is expected to begin in July 2027, with completion targeted for autumn 2028.
