German schools receive recognition for climate protection and energy efficiency

Educational institutions in Germany are receiving recognition and guidance for climate protection and energy efficiency efforts. In Kassel, the 'Clever Fürs Klima' project by Energie 2000 honored 14 schools and daycare centers for their energy-saving achievements in 2025. Friedrichsgymnasium Kassel secured third place in the energy-saving category, reducing its consumption by 12% and earning a premium of 9,951 euros.

Complementing these practical achievements, the Schools4Future project has released a new guide titled 'Gemeinschaftsaufgabe Klimaschutz an Schulen' (Climate Protection in Schools as a Collective Task). Developed with insights from the Wuppertal Institut, the guide aims to help school administrators and teachers overcome hurdles in implementing sustainable practices. It addresses both structural building measures and necessary behavioral changes to unlock the CO2 reduction potential within the school system.
