German schools use musical theater to address bullying and self-acceptance
Students in Germany are utilizing musical theater to address social themes and foster community. In Landau, approximately 40 students from the Paul-Moor-Schule are performing a musical titled ‘So wie ich bin, ich bin richtig’ (As I am, I am right) at the Haus am Westbahnhof on August 25 and 26.
In Homburg, the Saarland Police Bigband performed an anti-bullying musical titled ‘Spring on Mars’ for roughly 410 students and staff at the Robert-Bosch-Schule. The production, developed by music educator Ferdinand Roscher and author Marc Schwämmlein, uses various musical styles to tell a story about a character facing exclusion and bullying due to their origins.
