German schools welcome new fifth-grade students
Various German schools have held welcome ceremonies for their new fifth-grade students.
At Goetheschule Einbeck, Principal Christoph Schnapperelle welcomed four new classes. To foster engagement, each class was assigned a mascot—a walrus, a beaver, a pangolin, and a parrot—which the students are tasked with naming.
At Lahntalschule Biedenkopf, the welcome included a musical performance by a youth orchestra. Principal Sabine Schäfer-Jarosz emphasized the school's community spirit, noting that students would not navigate their educational journey alone. To assist with the transition, the school implemented a buddy system where eighth-grade students act as personal mentors for the newcomers.
