German Schützenfest traditions approach in Helmeringhausen and Grevenbroich

Various traditional shooting festivals (Schützenfeste) are scheduled to take place in Germany.

In Helmeringhausen, the annual children's shooting festival is set for September 5, 2026. The event features a unique tradition where participants use wooden clubs to target a hard, specially baked cracker shaped like a bird. The festivities include a colorful parade starting at 14:30, accompanied by the youth orchestra of the Musikverein ‘Eintracht’ Olsberg.

In Grevenbroich, the local shooting festival is scheduled from September 4 to September 8, 2026. The current royal couple, Wolfgang Brocker and Meggi Leicht, are preparing for a busy schedule of over 100 appointments during the celebration. The event marks a significant period of local festivities for the city.
