German scouts stranded in Livorno receive local aid

A group of 68 German scouts from the Bund Deutscher Pfadfinder (BDP) based in Stuttgart was left stranded in Livorno, Italy, following a transportation error. The group, consisting of nine leaders and 59 youths aged between 10 and 18, arrived via ferry after traveling from Corsica and Sardinia.

A misunderstanding regarding their bus reservation meant the vehicle intended to transport the group back to Germany was not scheduled to arrive until Sunday, leaving them without transport on Saturday night.

Local emergency services, including the Protezione Civile and the Misericordia, intervened to provide assistance. They organized 68 beds, food, and water, providing a warm shelter for the scouts until their situation was resolved. A group leader, Alessandra Meier, issued a letter of thanks to the volunteers for their extraordinary help.
