German service firms lag in cloud adoption, study shows

A study commissioned by Unit4 and conducted by Pierre Audoin Consultants surveyed service‑sector companies about cloud‑based platform use. It found that firms operating on modern, integrated cloud platforms are more productive and spend less time correcting errors, but many still struggle with fragmented IT systems that require manual work and overtime.

German service companies rank lowest among the surveyed nations, with only 22 % using fully integrated cloud platforms, compared with 36 % in the United States. Around 60 % of respondents expect their workload to grow or become more complex in the next year, highlighting a pressing need for process modernization. Business and professional services lead cloud adoption at 43 %, outpacing IT‑service firms at 36 %.

The study notes that 30 % of German firms rely on multiple legacy systems, contributing to project delays and extended work hours, especially around month‑end and quarter‑end reporting.
