Steve Guerdat wins individual jumping gold at Aachen World Championships

The 2026 FEI World Equestrian Championships in Aachen concluded with Swiss rider Steve Guerdat and his mare Dynamix de Belheme winning the individual show jumping gold medal. This victory completes Guerdat’s championship collection, following his Olympic, European, and World Cup titles.

In the individual jumping final, Thibeau Spits of Belgium took silver, while Harry Charles of Great Britain secured bronze. The event saw a dramatic shift for the German team; despite winning team gold earlier in the week, the individual German contenders—Daniel Deußer, Marcus Ehning, and Sophie Hinners—failed to reach the podium after incurring penalties in the final rounds.

Overall, the championships were a significant success for German equestrian sports, which secured 20 medals across various disciplines, including team gold in dressage, jumping, and vaulting. The event also served as a crucial qualification period for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, with German teams in dressage, jumping, and eventing successfully securing their spots.
