German Solar Craft Association promotes regional specialists
The German Solar Craft Association (BDSH) has launched the ‘Solar kauft man lokal’ (Buy solar locally) campaign to promote the advantages of regional specialist companies. With over 7,000 providers competing in the German photovoltaic market, the BDSH aims to help consumers navigate the variety of options, ranging from local experts to large-scale online distributors.
A study by EUPD Research involving approximately 6,000 operators indicates high satisfaction with regional providers, with 85% of customers rating their local solar specialist's performance as good or very good. Key benefits cited include personalized consultation, regional proximity, fast response times, and long-term support. Torben Brodersen, Managing Director of the BDSH, emphasized that photovoltaic systems require individual planning and long-term maintenance rather than being off-the-shelf products.
In a separate context regarding consumer choices, DIY solar installation is being explored as a method to reduce labor costs. While complete sets including modules, inverters, and storage are available for purchase online, professional installation remains a significant factor in total system costs, which can range from 1,000 to 2,000 euros per kilowatt peak including storage.
