German SPD pushes multi‑million euro school toilet upgrades in Delmenhorst and Halle

The Social Democratic (SPD) faction in Delmenhorst submitted a request to allocate the remaining €46.5 million of a special municipal fund to priority projects, with €20 million earmarked for the most urgently needed school‑toilet renovations and €10 million for daycare facility upgrades. Additional portions would support bike‑path repairs, road and bridge maintenance, and energy‑saving measures in public buildings.

In Halle, the SPD faction presented its first demand list for the school‑sanitation fund, urging the city to act on identified needs after 12 schools reported inadequate toilet conditions. SPD spokesperson Eric Odrian Eigendorf emphasized that functional, hygienic school toilets are essential for students, teachers and parents, and the faction seeks swift implementation of the proposed measures.

Both initiatives aim to improve everyday conditions for residents by directing earmarked funds toward school infrastructure and related community facilities.
