German Special Forces to adopt G39 .300 Blackout rifle

German special forces are set to replace the long-standing MP5SD submachine gun with the G39 rifle chambered in .300 Blackout. The new weapon was introduced by Heckler & Koch at the 10th Federal Special Forces Command weapons seminar.

Developed under the “Sonderwaffe schallgedämpft Spezialkräfte” program, the G39 is based on the HK437 platform. It features a 9-inch barrel and utilizes a short-stroke gas piston system. The configuration includes a suppressor from Norway’s A-TEC and a composite heat shield from the American company MODTAC to reduce noise and muzzle flash.

Other technical specifications for the German military version include an M-LOK handguard, a folding pistol-style stock from the G95K, and Aimpoint CompM5b optics with UNITY Tactical mounts.
