SV Waldhof Mannheim fined 100,000 euros for fan violence

The DFB Sports Court has imposed a 100,000 euro fine on SV Waldhof Mannheim following severe crowd disturbances during a DFB-Pokal match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The incident, which involved pyrotechnics and pitch incursions, led to injuries among spectators and police officers.

In addition to the financial penalty, the club must host two home league matches under partial spectator restrictions, with one such restriction being suspended on probation. Consequently, the upcoming match against TSG Hoffenheim II at the Carl-Benz-Stadion will have limited attendance; only specific season ticket holders, VIP guests, and away fans will be permitted entry, and general ticket sales are prohibited.

DFB Vice President for Legal Affairs Thomas Bergmann stated that the incidents “crossed a line far” and do not represent fan culture. SV Waldhof Mannheim has accepted the ruling and is working with local authorities to implement enhanced security measures, including increased video surveillance and stricter entry controls.
