Global corporate updates: Commerzbank, Rheinmetall, and Take-Two see shifts

Various European and international companies reported significant financial developments in August 2026.

Commerzbank exceeded expectations with a 40 percent increase in net profit to 1.81 billion euros for the first half of the year, leading the bank to raise its full-year profit forecast to at least 3.4 billion euros and announce a 1.2 billion euro share buyback. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall received an 'Outperform' rating from RBC with a price target of 1,600 euros, driven by expected growth in the European defense sector.

In the technology and industrial sectors, Ennoconn Corporation narrowly failed to acquire a majority stake in Austria's Kontron, securing only 48.36 percent of shares. NORMA Group reported improved profitability in its second quarter, with adjusted EBIT rising to 7.6 million euros despite a slight revenue dip caused by currency effects.

In the gaming industry, BTIG raised its price target for Take-Two Interactive to 313 USD, citing unprecedented pre-order interest for GTA VI. Conversely, the German startup ecosystem showed signs of contraction; while venture capital reached 5.29 billion euros, the total number of deals fell by 11 percent compared to the previous year, with capital increasingly concentrating in large-scale rounds.
