German Startup & Scaleup Strategy Powers Nationwide Founder Walks FAST-MOVING

On 22 July 2026 the German Federal Cabinet (Bundeskabinett) approved a comprehensive Startup and Scaleup Strategy containing more than 150 measures across eight focus areas. The plan seeks to ease company formation, accelerate growth and retain innovation in Germany. A record wave of new firms supported the policy: over 3,000 startups were founded in the first half of 2026, an increase of more than 50 % compared with the second half of 2025.

The Founder Walks initiative translates the strategy into regional action. Organized by startup coach Holger Hagenlocher, the format brings entrepreneurs, established businesses and local stakeholders together through short walks followed by networking gatherings. Participants exchange ideas, explore partnerships and discuss succession, with municipal economic‑development agencies, chambers, banks and Sparkassen acting as co‑hosts. Hagenlocher notes that while the walks are not an official government program, they directly advance the strategy’s objectives.

Organisers plan to roll the Founder Walks out across the entire DACH region, creating a lasting nationwide network that makes existing support offers more visible and better connects actors throughout Germany’s startup ecosystem.
