Deutsche Börse introduces 24/7 trading for DAX stocks
Deutsche Börse has launched a new model allowing investors to trade all 40 DAX index stocks 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This initiative is facilitated through 360X, a trading platform in which Deutsche Börse and Commerzbank hold stakes.
Under this combined model, 360X handles order execution during nighttime hours and weekends, while the central Xetra platform continues to provide liquidity during core European trading hours (09:00 to 17:30). This expansion aims to create a continuous European market infrastructure, enabling retail investors to react more quickly to global news and earnings reports released outside of standard German market hours.
While the service offers greater flexibility, market participants note that liquidity may be lower during off-peak hours, potentially leading to wider spreads between buy and sell prices. The Deutsche Börse Group intends for this to be the first European financial market infrastructure to offer a 24/7 service for classic blue-chip stocks.
