German student team wins bronze at FISU Bridge World Championship

A German mixed team of students secured the bronze medal at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Mind Sports Championship held in Liaocheng, China. The competition, which took place from October 11 to 16, featured bridge and chess disciplines with over 200 students from 21 countries participating.

France took the gold medal with 247.48 points, while the host nation, China, earned silver with 204.31 points. The German team finished in third place with 198.16 points. The German roster included Charlotte Baumgart, Kathrin Schwalbach, Marius Gündel, Levente Hartstang, and Benedikt Körner.

This achievement marks the third consecutive bronze medal for German student teams at the FISU World Championships, following previous podium finishes in Antwerp in 2022 and Entebbe in 2024. Barbara Hanne, President of the German Bridge Federation (DBV), noted that the success reflects the effectiveness of the organization's youth development programs.
