German study outlines hydrogen costs for industrial users by 2035

Researchers from Fraunhofer ISI, IEG and IEE have released a comprehensive analysis of the total cost of green hydrogen in Germany, covering production, transport and storage. The study shows that additional infrastructure costs can nearly double the price of hydrogen generated on site, and that the overall purchase price in 2035 will vary widely between applications such as continuous‐load industry, flexible processes, combined heat‑power and power‑plant use.

The findings were presented in a free webinar aimed at industry, energy firms, policymakers and researchers, with discussions on sourcing strategies, on‑site solutions and portfolio effects to improve the economic viability of hydrogen projects.
