German supermarkets increasingly withdraw fireworks from sales
An increasing number of supermarkets in Germany are voluntarily removing fireworks, including rockets, fountains, and batteries, from their product ranges ahead of New Year's Eve.
While some retailers continue to sell these items during the final days of the year, others are making the decision to opt out entirely. One Rewe retailer in Neubrandenburg reported that she will no longer sell fireworks in her three locations, citing concerns for animal welfare and noting that the practice is becoming outdated and expensive. Although some customers have expressed dissatisfaction with these decisions, retailers have observed a decline in fireworks sales in recent years.
