German swimmers capture medals at Junior European Championships in Munich

At the Junior European Championships in Munich, 18‑year‑old Berlin swimmer Louis Hoffmann secured a bronze medal in the 50 m breaststroke with a time of 27.34 seconds, improving his personal best for the third time in the competition.

Fellow German athletes also posted strong results. Larus Thiel opened the men’s 4 × 100 m freestyle relay with a 50.53 second split, helping the German team finish in 3:21.83 minutes, just 0.11 seconds shy of the final. He repeated a similar split in the mixed relay, where the German quartet placed eleventh. In the women’s events, 50 m freestyle debutant Luisa Herrmann recorded 26.03 seconds, ranking 24th of 71 and close to her personal best. Both swimmers were praised by their coach Mitja Zastrow for their form.

The championships also featured a junior world record in the mixed 4 × 100 m freestyle relay set by neutral athletes, underscoring the high level of competition.
