German teacher sentenced for child rape; Neuss school hit by deepfake porn scandal

A Cologne physics teacher was sentenced by the Landgericht to five years and three months in prison for multiple sexual offences, including abusing a 16‑year‑old student with a remote‑controlled device, grooming children online, and raping his 11‑month‑old baby. The sentence was increased after the Federal Court of Justice ordered a retrial, and the teacher will lose his civil‑servant status.

In Neuss, police are investigating a case where two teenagers used artificial‑intelligence software to create pornographic deep‑fake images of a fellow student and circulated them in school chat groups. The offence is classified as child pornography, carrying a fine or up to three years’ imprisonment. The school involved the psychological service and police, while some parents criticized the lack of immediate suspension. A similar incident in Berlin led to immediate suspension of the perpetrators.
