German Television Awards announce 2026 nominations
The nominations for the 2026 German Television Awards (Deutscher Fernsehpreis) have been announced by the jury in Cologne. The awards, scheduled for September 8 and 9, cover 27 categories across fiction, entertainment, information, and sports.
Several productions have received multiple nominations. The drama series ‘Hundertdreizehn’ leads with four nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Direction, Best Script, and Best Editing. Other highly recognized works include the ZDFneo series ‘Chabos’, the ARD film ‘Die Nichte des Polizisten’, and the ZDF production ‘Olivia’.
In the acting categories, Tom Schilling (‘Achtsam Morden’), Edin Hasanović (‘Tatort: Dunkelheit’), Johannes Hegemann (‘Olivia’), Josef Hader (‘Sturm kommt auf’), and Johannes Kienast (‘Chabos’) are among the nominees for Best Actor. For Best Actress, nominees include Annette Frier, Karin Hanczewski, Samirah Breuer, Derya Akyol, and Magdalena Laubisch.
Jury Chairman Stephan Lamby noted that the 2025/26 programming season reflects societal shifts, with many productions addressing themes such as freedom of expression, social media, and global conflicts. Public broadcasters ARD and ZDF lead the nominations, followed by RTL and streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
