German thrash band Exumer to drop new album Death Mask Messiah on Aug 28

Long‑running German thrash outfit Exumer will release its sixth studio album, Death Mask Messiah, on 28 August through Metal Blade Records. The record marks the band’s first new studio output in seven years and its fourth release on the label.

The 11‑track album was recorded between December 2025 and January 2026, produced by Dominic Paraskevopoulos and mixed/mastered by Arthur Rizk. It features a new rhythm section – drummer Jerome Reil and bassist Alex Voss – and includes a guest appearance by Nasty Ronnie of American metal band Nasty Savage on a cover of “Unchained Angel”.

Co‑founding vocalist Mem V. Stein said, “We are a lot more aggressive than on Hostile Defiance and are returning to a more ‘in your face’ style on Death Mask Messiah.” The album’s concept draws on recent US political themes, the pandemic, misinformation, and the 30‑year anniversary of the Waco siege, with the title track portraying David Koresh as a false prophet.

Death Mask Messiah will be issued on CD‑Digipak, digital formats and several limited‑edition vinyl colour variants, with pre‑orders available via Metal Blade’s website.
