German Tourist Dies During Mallorca Beach Protest

On July 5, 2026, a 60‑year‑old German tourist died of cardiac arrest while swimming at Es Trenc, a protected nature beach on Mallorca. The incident occurred as thousands of demonstrators formed a human chain in the shallow water to protest a Balearic government proposal that they say would weaken the beach’s protected status.
