On the evenings of 26–27 July 2026, thousands gathered in Palma de Mallorca to protest mass tourism. The marches were organised by the platform Menys Turisme, Més Vida under the slogan “Mallorca am Limit”. Police estimates put attendance at about 25 000, while the organisers claimed up to 70 000 participants.

Demonstrators demanded a cap on tourist numbers, citing housing shortages, traffic congestion, pollution and environmental damage. The protest was timed ahead of the Balearic regional elections. Police responded with batons and rubber‑bullet guns; three ambulances treated eight people, two of whom were hospitalized with minor injuries. It was reported as the first time police fired rubber bullets at anti‑tourism protesters in a European resort.

The event coincided with wider debate on visitor‑management, including Venice’s trial tourist fee, but the core focus remained the Mallorca demonstration and its policy demands.
