German towns host summer community festivals
In Zwiesel, the local Gymnasium organized a beach‑style end‑of‑year party, moving classes to an outdoor pool area where students enjoyed swimming, beach soccer and volleyball on sand, along with music, grilled sausages and non‑alcoholic cocktails. The event featured competitions between classes and a final match pitting teachers against the 11th‑grade students.
Meanwhile, in Weiden, the Behinderten‑ und Vitalsportverein (BVS) celebrated a summer festival at the Schießlweiher grounds. Club chair Sabine Birner thanked volunteers and honored long‑standing members, while local officials including Mayor Stephan Gollwitzer praised the club’s role in community life. The program included a grill, cake buffet and recognitions for members with decades of service.
Both events highlighted local engagement, outdoor recreation and volunteer contributions during the summer season in Germany.
