German towns Tostedt and Schaumburg open new skateparks
On 23 July 2026 the new skatepark at the Heidloh movement park in Tostedt was inaugurated. The 850‑square‑metre concrete facility, designed for skateboards, BMX, scooters, inlines and wheelchair motocross, was planned by landscape planning group led by Miriam Holzhaus and built by Skatebar. Officials attending included Mayor Nadja Weippert, Samtgemeinde mayor Peter Dörsam and Lower Saxony minister Miriam Staudte.
Earlier this year Schaumburg’s Findlingsgarten skatepark opened after a ribbon‑cutting ceremony. The project, driven by the municipal social committee and mayor Heike Schweer, was two‑thirds funded by the Isek programme and supported by the Lotto‑Sport foundation. The opening was attended by disability officer Jutta Stenzel, who highlighted the accessible design. Both parks were developed with strong youth participation and are intended to encourage active recreation over screen time.
