German trade associations expand PV installation safety agreement

German trade associations and professional associations have expanded and restructured an agreement regarding the safe installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems. Effective September 1, the agreement now includes additional sectors, such as metalworkers, carpenters, and timber construction professionals, alongside existing participants like electricians, roofers, and sanitary, heating, and air conditioning installers.

The updated agreement aims to enhance safety during PV installations by defining requirements for working securely on roofs, providing model instructions for the use of work and protective scaffolding, and establishing training requirements for electrically instructed persons (EuP).

The collaboration seeks to protect workers from specific risks: employees of relevant craft associations are to be protected from electrical hazards through standardized procedures, while employees of electrical companies are to be protected against fall hazards.
