German travelers favor Hanoi as top summer 2026 destination

KAYAK’s analysis of flight‑search data from Germany shows a pronounced shift in summer‑holiday preferences for 2026. The Vietnamese capital Hanoi recorded the largest surge, with a 75 % increase in searches, placing it at the top of the list.

Other fast‑growing destinations include Toronto (+47 %), Podgorica (+41 %), Nairobi (+39 %), Port Louis (+37 %), Victoria (+24 %), Bogotá (+28 %), Beijing (+26 %) and Seoul (+25 %). The trends indicate German travellers are moving away from traditional Mediterranean beach resorts toward long‑haul trips that promise cultural immersion, adventure and new perspectives.

“Germany’s trend destinations for the summer 2026 show that travellers are seeking more adventure,” said Yvonne Bonanati of KAYAK. The data reflects growing interest in Asian metropolises, African safari bases and South‑American urban experiences, supported by KAYAK’s flight‑price trends dashboard.
