Germany: AI usage rises for vacation planning
A survey released by the digital association Bitkom reveals that artificial intelligence is increasingly playing a role in travel planning for people in Germany. Approximately one in four respondents reported using AI suggestions to choose a travel destination, and nearly two-thirds expressed an openness to automated recommendations.
According to the survey of roughly 1,000 individuals, AI usage spans various stages of travel: 19% have used it to search for accommodations, flights, or train tickets, while 21% sought restaurant recommendations. Additionally, 25% utilized AI programs to enhance their vacation photos. Some users even leverage the technology for practical tasks like generating packing lists or finding information on local excursions and cultural features.
Bitkom expert Lucy Czachowski noted the benefits of AI for finding quick suggestions in new locations but cautioned travelers to verify information regarding routes and opening hours with reliable local sources.
