German travelers prioritize personal interests, embrace astrokartografie travel trend
A YouGov survey commissioned by the booking platform Omio found that only 5% of German travellers say social‑media trends influence their choice of holiday destination. Instead, 70% rank personal interests as the top factor, ahead of budget concerns (51%) and practical issues such as accessibility (40%). The majority feel little pressure to document trips online – 65% report little or no pressure, and only 4% feel compelled to share their journeys on social media.
At the same time, a niche travel trend called astrokartografie – the mapping of planetary lines onto the globe based on an individual’s birth chart – is gaining popularity. Google Trends shows a worldwide rise in searches for the term, and Royal Caribbean hired a professional astrokartographer in 2025 to design cruise routes aligned with these planetary lines. Influencers on Instagram and TikTok share journeys along lines such as Jupiter (family‑oriented trips) or Venus (romantic getaways). Free online tools let users generate personal astrokartography maps, and paid consultations are also available.
