Germany misses mixed relay podium at 2026 Hamburg Triathlon World Championships

The German mixed relay team finished fifth at the World Triathlon Championship Series in Hamburg, ending five‑minute behind the French quartet that won gold. Hungary took silver and Great Britain bronze. The German squad – Lisa Tertsch, Valentin Wernz, Franka Rust and Tim Hellwig – could not match the pace after a late‑stage slowdown.

In the individual races, Lisa Tertsch claimed second place in the women's sprint, while Henry Graf earned third in the men's sprint, both delivering strong performances on home soil.

At the concurrent World Triathlon Para Series, Germany’s double Paralympic champion Martin Schulz captured gold in the PTS5M class, finishing 13 seconds ahead of Canada’s Stefan Daniel. German para‑triathletes Anja Renner (silver) and Neele Ludwig (fourth) also featured among the top finishers.

France secured Olympic qualification for 2028 with its relay win, while the German team highlighted the depth of its talent despite the missed medal.
