German TV channels ZDF and SAT.1 adjust June schedules for World Cup and series cancellation

ZDF will suspend its regular Saturday‑night crime series in early June to broadcast live matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The channel will air the Group B game between Qatar and Switzerland on Saturday, followed by coverage of the Group C match Brazil vs Morocco, with the next crime drama scheduled for 27 June.

SAT.1 is removing the daily drama “Frieda – Mit Feuer und Flamme” from its prime‑time evening slot after less than a month on air. The remaining episodes will be shifted to early‑morning and overnight programming starting in early July, ending the series’ linear broadcast in the 18:00 slot.
