German Universities Host Online OER and AI Conference on November 6
On 6 November 2025, a consortium of German higher‑education institutions—including MMKH, twillo, HIS‑HE, KNOER and the HOOU—will hold a free online conference titled “OER in the Age of AI – now more than ever or a dying model?”. The two‑hour event will feature lightning talks and a panel discussion with experts such as PD Dr. Martin Ebner (TU Graz), Axel Klinger (TIB Hannover), Dr. Mathias Stein, Funda Seyfeli‑Özhizalan (HIS‑HE), Dr. Sandra Schön (TU Graz) and PD Dr. Malte Persike (RWTH Aachen). Participants will examine how generative AI tools are reshaping the creation, licensing and distribution of open educational resources, debating questions about the future relevance of Creative Commons licences, the role of OER repositories versus open LMS platforms, and how AI can both challenge and support open‑education initiatives. Registration is required via an online form.
