German university limits AfD‑critical talks while left groups plan protest of party congress

The Technical University of Berlin invoked its neutrality rule to restrict a left‑wing student conference, ordering the removal or alteration of 14 of the roughly 90 planned sessions. Organisers of the "Take back the future" congress, backed by the Initiative Studis gegen Rechts and the SDS, say the cuts target talks critical of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) and topics such as fascism, feminism and climate change. The university claims the changes prevent partisan disputes on campus, though critics allege the move yields to pressure from an AfD‑linked lawyer.

Separately, left‑wing activists are preparing blockades ahead of the AfD’s upcoming Bundesparteitag in Erfurt. Groups ranging from environmental organisations to more radical factions are organising protests, including a banner against Rheinmetall, to disrupt the congress. The coordinated effort reflects broader tensions between the AfD and anti‑far‑right movements in Germany.
