Failure to comply can result in the police towing, auctioning, or scrapping the vehicle. Owners are responsible for all associated costs, including processing fees, illegal parking fines, and towing and storage charges. If a vehicle is auctioned and the proceeds do not cover the total expenses, the owner remains liable for the remaining balance, which can reach up to 100,000 euros.
